Cabo Rojo, located on the southwestern coast of Puerto Rico, is a region of striking natural contrasts where salt flats, mangroves, and limestone cliffs meet the sparkling Caribbean Sea. Its most iconic feature is the Cabo Rojo Lighthouse perched on dramatic cliffs overlooking the ocean, offering panoramic views of turquoise waters and nearby beaches. The surrounding area, including the Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge, provides habitats for flamingos, herons, and other migratory birds, making it a paradise for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.

The beaches around Cabo Rojo are equally diverse. Playa Sucia, often called “La Playuela,” is a pristine cove with soft sand and calm waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Meanwhile, nearby Playa Buyé and Combate Beach are popular with locals for their gentle waves and scenic sunsets. Inland, trails wind through dry forests and salt flats, revealing hidden lagoons and the iconic pink salt pans that reflect both natural beauty and the island’s historical salt production.

Despite its natural attractions, Cabo Rojo maintains a relaxed, small-town atmosphere. Colorful villages, local seafood eateries, and weekend markets create an inviting environment where visitors can experience authentic Puerto Rican life.
